MAI Third Annual Convention

Sessions for adult and youth, entertainment, Saturday night banquet, networking session and training program for Islamic schools, nonprofit organizations, youth and adult leadership program and campaign training programs, legal workshop.

 

The MAI Convention Parking Information 
 
There is no free parking available on the IUPUI campus during the Convention.  There are metered parking opposite the iupui Campus Center.  The Vermont Street Garage located at 1004 W Vermont Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204 is attached to the IUPUI Campus Center.  The minimum parking cost is $2 and maximum daily rate is $9.  For more information about parking please visit: https://www.parking.iupui.edu/visitors.do

Qirat Competition Information:

Surah #105 Al-Feel for the age group under 10

Surah #93 Ad-Duha for the age group 10 and under 14, and
Surah #91 Ash-Shams  for the age group 14 and under 18.

Competition will start at 11am and award ceremony will be immediately after Maghrib at 7:25pm on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

Attorneys from MAI Legal, Ice Miller, Baker and Daniels and other local law firms will be available for free legal advice.

10:00 – 10:55 am  Islamic  Wills, Estate Planning, Business Transactions, Contracts, and Legal Issues

Attorneys from Ice Miller will be providing a presentation on various legal issues affecting Muslims and will be available to respond to questions.

10:00 – 10:55 am  Youth Session: Internships, Career and college planning & financial aid
This session will feature recruitment staff of government agencies as well as experts who can counsel students about college and career planning.  Participants will also benefit from advice regarding tips for financial aid for college.

11:00 am  Qirat Competition Starts (All participants must be present)

11:00 – 11:55 am   Session: Muslims in Public Schools
Over 90% of Muslim American children attend public school.  This session was put together at the request of concerned parents who would like to have greater interaction between schools districts with high Muslim student populations and the Muslim community.
Noon – 1:00 pm   Professionals Networking Luncheon
An opportunity to meet other Muslims in your profession and network.  This will also be an opportunity for imams and community leaders to meet and share ways to better coordinate activities amongst Muslim Hoosiers.  Participants will select their preferred networking table.
